Certain verbs may be followed by an object and then by an infinitive with to – I told you to do it. The negative infinitive is formed with not – I told you not to do it.
1. after adjectives, 'nice' , 'happy', 'difficult' etc.:
It's nice to see you.
2. to express purpose or reason:
He joined the club to get some exercise.
3. after 'too' and 'enough':
He's too tired to win the race. She's not fast enough to win the race.
4. after superlatives and first, second, third etc. object of a sentence:
The most difficult thing is to score a goal. The first thing you do is to change your shoes.
5. after certain verb, 'advise', 'agree', 'allow', 'help', 'learn', etc. I'll help you to finish it if you like.
